A day of Meet the Maker was held in August with the financial
support of Norton Priory Museum & Gardens and the Arts
Council. Meet the maker present the chance to listen to
the artist talk about the process and the theories of their
practice and how it relates to the exhibition “Making
Stuff”. It is a chance for artists and visitors to
interact and eat sandwiches in a relaxed atmosphere and
for some recent graduates is their first opportunity to
talk about their work outside of university.
Says Gillian:
“For me, ‘Making Stuff’ is such an exciting
exhibition, because, not only does it represent a diverse
a range of contemporary craft practices but it presents
artists who are using their craft to be both technically
and conceptually innovative. All nine artists have an exploratory
approach to their practice seeking to push the boundaries
of their craft to produce decorative and functional art
objects and I believe that the work on show reveals the
exciting interface between craft and design.”
The Kitchen Gallery would like to take this opportunity
to thank Gill for all of her hard work and dedication to
the project and for her creative input to the curation of
the show. We would also like to thank the artists for showing
their beautiful work with us and of course our sponsors;
the Arts Council of England, Norton Priory Museum &
Gardens and Halton Borough Council Arts Development Unit.
