My work often focuses on themes of environment and the recycling of mundane objects into organic forms.
The work comprises of skilfully and imaginatively reworking plastic bottles into a glowing wonder world, reminiscent of an underwater paradise. Using the transparent forms as a virtue the work is sculpted by cutting, twisting and reattaching using split pins to create fantastical forms that suggest coral or exotic anemones: the unnatural becomes natural.
This glowing tribute to the very environment which it is destroying continues Sarah Nicholson’s interest in and exploration of green matters.
