First constructed in May 2003 for the opening of the Norton Priory Museum and Gardens Rosewalk, Rosebud was also the original name given to the fairytale princess “Sleeping Beauty”.
Like Sleeping Beauty the ancient varieties of roses in the nearby boarders have been re-awakened and given new life after a long slumber.
Many of the roses have been snatched from the edge of extinction by the generous support of donors to the Gardens.
To reflect the man-made nature of genetic preservation, Rosebud is constructed using 3,000 artificial red roses.
