During workshops each building block bundle of books for the Tower was tagged with a personal message from the participants.
The workshops for children were geared towards guiding selected reading to create a dialogue between the individual books in each bundle (bundles are made by examining the books and learning how they work before using basic maths – adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing – to get page numbers which provide content for the labels, instructions on exactly how to do this are available with the hire of the artist to execute the project in a new context).
Adults approached in the library were encouraged to write messages about the role of reading in their lives.
The emphasis of the workshops was to attract local interest in reading and in the library as a community resource as well as introducing children to a wide range of fine literature.
